Running Ethernet Cable In Drop Ceiling Across 120V AC Lines

User 4 years ago updated by Shaun A Kranish (Principal) 4 years ago 3

If I purchase your shielded Ethernet cable - if I run it through my drop ceiling across 120V AC lines that connect to fluorescent light ballasts - will it pick up the EMF / dirty electricity from the lights?

Hello There,

No they will not because they are shielded.  Meaning nothing can go in or out of the shielding material.

Just make sure your cord is grounded properly at ONE end (we recommend the end that plugs into the computer) where the user is located.  So make sure the other end is isolated - you can use one of our isolators for that if it is plugging into a metal switch or router that is already grounded for example.
